I have to say I’m a little peeved at this bill. It bothers me that the cars that are taken in are destroyed. These are usable cars that great charity organizations could use. I understand that the purpose of the bill is to get some of the “higher polluting” cars off the road, but I’m still peeved that they will be destroying perfectly good cars.

I have a GMC 1994 Serria 150 pick up truck runs good .
camper shell on back big one tall with windows
this one qualifys for the max $ 4,500.00 dollars
how do I do this …and do I get more if I trade it in on a 2008 or2009 king cab pick up truck …the small one .
thanks Dottie
Dottie,
From what I understand, you won’t get a trade in, only a tax credit. The dealers will have to destroy your vehicle as part of the incentive, so they aren’t going to give you any “trade-in” for it since the trade in value is based on what they can sale it for. Make sense?
As far as getting more or less, from what I understand their are 2 tiers to the incentive, $3500 and $4500 dollars. This is based on the percentage gain in gas mileage from the old vehicle to the new that you are purchasing.
I know we are talking GMC here, but if you’ll go to Ford’s website, http://www.ford.com , they have a really good tool to show your vehicle and the qualifiers for their new vehicles, check it out.
